Glen’s Short Lived Job as a Hairstylist Results in the Creation of a New Cryptid…

You know when you’re just sitting there minding your own business, chilling to some documentaries and then something so outrageous pops up you can’t stop laughing? That’s totally what happened when I learned about Sheepsquach and obviously I had to figure out how such a monster could be… and Glen had the answer!

The Making of Glen

I’m having one of those mornings where everything I touch falls to pieces which is why this comic isn’t as good as it could be. I LOVE the texture of Sheepsquach’s hair but the brush I was using to make it disappeared just as I was about to draw an arm for him?! Just gone. No idea what happened to it but I am super sad because it looked so good! Clearly I still need help drawing Bigfoot’s face because no matter how many times I attempt it he just looks… weird. SIGH. Maybe next week I will do better. I am surprised I was even able to draw a Glen this week after taking last week off due to an IMMENSE amount of stress going on in my life right now.

Glen Meets Baby Cthulhu

It’s been a very Cthulhu-laden week and I can’t really complain! It was fun drawing him… as a baby… and who knows, maybe the reason he’s so evil is because no one showed him any love. Well, we all love you now baby Cthulhu!

The Making of Glen

This week I did something a little different by creating a three panel comic. For some reason my illustrator was NOT cooperating with me to allow me to copy and paste multiple layers so making three separate panels that were basically the same took more time than it should have. Other than that this was straight drawing. I didn’t really do anything weird, interesting, or new.

Glen Discusses the Danger of Muppet Mange

Glen is back this week for a three part public announcement given in true 80’s style.

*No Muppets were harmed in the making of this strip. All we fine after being fed a course of Ivermectin.

The Making of Glen

This week ended a long drought of inspiration for me with the added magical element of a muse. Initially I had drawn just the middle panel with the Muppets as a joke to a very Muppet-loving friend. This then spiraled out of control as I needed to build a story around it. I once again realized that life as an artist is MUCH easier when you have a muse to get the creative juices flowing. Muses don’t usually give direct inspiration, no one was asking me, “Hey can you draw me a mange-addled Muppet?” but just by having conversations and being around they can inspire me to come up with my own storylines.

I also did a number of new things when it came to drawing this comic. In the first panel I used a premade backdrop which came out rather sweet. In the second I played a lot with positioning. In the third I learned how to slant a graphic I drew (the And Now You Know star) on a straight horizontal. All and all I am very happy with how it all came out. I feel like this week progressed my illustrating chops.
