Although Glen will always be the main character of all the comics here he is happy to share space with a whole host of family and friends. Most can be seen as cameo characters who wander in and out of the panels at will to say hello or help Glen into deeper trouble than he is already in. And sometimes they demand a comic to themselves and I can’t help but oblige. Below are some of the characters that are likely to become recurrent if they aren’t already.

Glen’s Kids: Glen has had kids for as long as I’ve known him. He claims they number around 300. They probably have individual personalities and names but as of yet I have not deciphered any and Glen is of no help. They are usually quite mischievous creatures who bestow chaos wherever they go. Here we can see a few singing, a few looking worried, one munching on something, one who is inexplicably wearing cheap cat ears, another who has gotten into the mascara… this is typical of their appearances. What’s really weird about them is that I’m not 100% sure how Glen fits into their lives because as far as I can tell caterpillars are historically incapable of having children (until they turn into butterflies.) I have no answer to this. Maybe someone is confused.

Glubby: Glubby showed up in two panels from my oldest comics. He was my favorite intergalactic good-for-nothin’. In his first appearance he was fired on the first day of the job after turning an abductee into a cadaver. From there we saw him trying to join in the human world and getting a job as a babysitter where he ended up covered in more human fluids than he would have appreciated. Will he show up again with his unusual compound eyes? It’s possible. He is still looking for a job if anyone is seeking to employ a space alien…

The Suicidal Teddy Bear: I know what you’re probably thinking – what kind of monster makes a suicidal teddy bear into a comic? Truth be told I was just captivated by the idea of a suicidal teddy bear after watching one melodramatically rip out its own fluff and leap off a dresser in the music video for Sometimes. Clearly I am not the only one completely incapable of seeing the greater beauty beyond this song because I was too busy busting a gut at the damn teddy. If you live in the US you probably have never heard this song unless some weirdo morbidly sent you the same link. It has a cult following of delightful freaks which includes myself because for years I still cannot fathom what would make a teddy bear suicidal. I’ve lost sleep over this. A friend told me the hit TV show Supernatural had it’s own answer to that question… I dare you to watch either one of those videos and not laugh uncontrollably. It’s dark. It’s funny. It’s a suicidal teddy bear. Don’t worry though because my version isn’t quite so extreme. He mostly mulls around depressing the other characters.

Rogaine & Placebo: Rogaine and Placebo are a pair of cats rescued from a laboratory testing the popular hair drug. They were created solely to satiate my need for puns but since drawing them they’re actually pretty awesome and with the internet being so obsessed with cats I figure it can only be a good thing to bring these two along.
