So this little guy must have come in on one of the plants. He looks like an ordinary bladder snail except for four tentacles over his shell?! What is going on here?! I asked the internet and this even befuddled a pond snail biologist who said, “Yeah, they aren’t supposed to look like that!” Another aquascaper claimed all her snails looked like this and theorized it was inbreeding. I suspect it’s more than that. They seem as if they have a function of some sort. We may be witnessing evolution here.

I’ve named him Eldrich Horror and he’s now safe and loved. All hail the betenticled snail!
